Figure of Eight Loop

Often mistakenly taken as a Figure of Eight Loop in the Bight or a Blood Bight knot both of which are actually used to tie a loop mid-line. Its also sometimes confused with the Double Figure of Eight Loop, which is simillar but has two loops after completion.
The Figure of Eight Loop is used solely for the formation of a loop at the end of a line or rope. Such a loop can then be used as a collar or to attach a hook, sinker or dropper.
Regularly used by firefighters, climbers and anglers as it is readily tied, maintains its security and can be untied if not placed under too much load.
The Figure of Figure of Eight loop retains approximately 65% to 70% original line strength.
Although it is also known as a Double Figure of Eight, this can become confusing as there is a loop knot known as the Double Figure of Eight Loop, which is simillar but has two loops after completion.
