Ringbolt Hitching

Ringbolt Hitching is a decorative form of hitching that is often used for rings rails and handles. Ringbolt Hitching is not just an attractive hitching arrangement, it is also a useful method of heat-proofing surfaces such as handles of cooking appliances or surfaces where friction causes them to heat up. The most common form of Ringbolt Hitching is the three strand cockscomb as illustrated here, although other forms using fewer or more strands exist.
