Knots Description

Double Figure-of-Eight Bend

The Double Figure of Eight bend is an oft used knot by boaters and climbers. It combines two Figure of Eight knots that are drawn together to work as a bend. The Double Figure of Eight bend is a dependable fibrous line to line joining knot although it has its limitations in that it can be prone to slippage in nylon based lines. It can be made much more secure by properly fairing the knot by pulling both standing parts firmly at the completion of the knot and also by leaving at least six inches of tag end on both Figure of Eight knots.
