Fishermans Loop
The Fishermans Loop is a very old loop that has its origins with primitive fishermen. The Fishermans Loop is an easily tied, adjustable loop and can be tied in most materials, although slips when tied in nylon based lines. It is a very simple loop to tie and is formed by combining a slipped overhand knot and an additional overhand knot. The secondary stopper knot is employed to stop the loop from sliding and thus the loop can be tied and set at a certain width. As it tends to slip in nylon it is no longer used in fishing, however an excellent knot for light cordage and twin.
